Karen Margolis Samson, born in Chicago, Illinois spent most of her early years in the Midwest.  Educated at University of Illinois, Karen’s early art interests centered on painting and 2D media.  She eventually earned a PhD in education and taught at the university level while maintaining an active art presence in Chicago galleries and art fair venues.  Upon retiring (and moving to Tucson) in 2006, Samson resumed her love of knitting, discovering myriads of new types of fibers available.  Along with this came the introduction of many new fiber arts and artists abundant in the Tucson area.  Here Samson learned the technique of wet felting which prevails in her fiber art today.
